read first: bible/SHOW-BIBLE-v0.3.md, episodes/EPISODES.md, craft/CRAFT-RULES.md. positions defended here: play it straight (rule 21), fake ads parody formats never real brands (31), two and two never four (13), fake institutions get real documentation (32), evidence never resolves (14). everything below is fed through those, not past them.
what moved
a man got 18 months for $10M in AI streaming fraud. bots listened; no humans did. the DOJ's own press-release slug reads "super-intelligence-assisted-music." (justice.gov/usao-sdny, bleepingcomputer oct 7) → this is ep3 "quarterly earnings" already written by the world, pleasanter than we had it. the cabal's yield farm now has a real form: revenue from listeners who never existed. → also a free lore beat: the government finally says "super intelligence" and "music" in one sentence; jazz cigarettes has been claiming that title for thirty years. see seeds.
deezer will let listeners filter out AI music (engadget, today oct 18). platforms shipping the anti-AI toggle while feeding the model behind the toggle. → ep2 "cardboard certified" lane: gice launches the Purity Badge — "100% human verified," verified by a model. card: "certified . by whom ." the loop stays open, rule 30.
'suno is the new auto-tune' (dazed, oct 8). masked artists whose vocals run through AI, insisting it's a tool like reverb; the piece's own analogy: "think of AI-assisted music like an oven . that's not oven-generated food ." → the lore's order of operations holds better than expected: "i did not apply for this position . the position required someone who had already been doing it for thirty years ." now the world is full of people applying. character pressure on the professor: his three tongues need one for the ai-era purist who masks his voice and calls it mastering.
the label behind those artists tried to veto the article before publication. writer's kicker: "i've certainly never seen marketing like this before." (dazed, same piece) → the board's press behavior verbatim: "motion to pre-approve the press ." "quorum ." "pending ." gice anchor, play it straight and it is funnier than any version we could write.
'don't write with AI, say people who write with AI' (the atlantic, oct 3). the hypocrisy genre is now a genre. → the board's running ban: out loud they ban AI; the minutes are generated; the motion is seconded by the model. rule 34 — satire as situation, never a lecture. the couple here (atlantic + deezer) proves the pattern: ban the thing, run it underneath.
a coffee shop owner made its menu with AI and got angry neighbor DMs about it (business insider sep 16; 82pts, 316 comments on hn). the small street punished; the big tower unsupervised. → cold open stated as weather, rule 27: "the coffee shop on 124th made its menu in AI . the block survived ." cardboard's verdict: "the menu was bad . that is the whole crime ." the double standard is the character pressure on the corner.
'i hijacked a real artist's spotify with AI music . it was disturbingly easy .' (404 media sep 18-20) identity theft at the index level: the fake outranks the real. → ep2/ep9 inverse: gice quietly uploads a jazz cigarettes who was never TPunk. proof of selfhood becomes the impossible thing; the wall and the sticker are the residue, rule 13. card, not for sale. the wrong cat with the gice tag (rule 69) was the season instrument; now the season has an audio version too.
$137M in AI-generated ads flooding the midterms (nyt oct 16). → internal only: a note on why the show's fake gice commercials must stay hand-made lies. rule 31 holds harder every week; the real world is filling the slop slot and the novelty tax on "AI ad" jokes will only rise. gice stays garrulous: the ads sell the tile, the tile never resolves.
anthropic's image model caught copypasting mononoke (hn 254pts oct 15). → craft memo not screen material: rule 59 (assets, never final frames; licensed weights) is now defensible in public with this as the exhibit. keeps the show on the right side of the exact crime the story is about.
data centers are the largest financial bet in us history; america is turning on them; ukraine's strikes on yandex data centers collapsed russian bot activity by 84%. (stateline oct 16; mother jones oct 7; ukrainian MoD report oct 18) the cult of centralization measured in silences: kill one building, the robots stop talking. → ep7 "quorum pending" gets a siting: the cabal's quorum lives in one building. tick: "the cloud is a building . buildings can be hit ." the corner stays lit on one warm bulb. rule 41: the shock never shows a face.
hackers flipped supermarket fridges across europe into defrost mode (tom's hardware oct 12; 912pts, 1007 comments). smart things with collective firmware hurt their owners politely. → gice tiles glitching to STOP: 0x0000EQUILIBRIUM in ep1 was a metaphor last week; this week it is a documentary event. scene seed: a gice firmware push sets every doorbell in the borough to the gice jingle at 3am. the meter settles it, rule 48: cardboard barks once, sits, never again.
show hn: i built a virtual pianist with his own performance style (ivokeys, oct 16) — it is playing cannonball adderley. the headline "world's first AI jazz musician" did not need jazz cigarettes anymore; the market granted the title to a demo. → the core irony engine will run without commentary: "i was called a machine in 1997 . now the machines are called musicians . the order of operations reversed . i was here at both ends ."
"how do you deal with AI output of your boss?" (ask hn, 30pts). the slop arrives from above with a title. → the board's memo about the memo. winslow's leaf for the hotel (rule 68): the I-AGREE float now flickers on memos too.
AI-generated women scraping comedians' jokes to livestream at nobody (wired oct 16). → grader pressure: he checks gice followers, and the followers are plausibly this. a follower count proves the opposite of what it always proved.
seeds
bit: the purity badge. gice sells "certified AI-free" seals, generated by the model that monitored your other products. jazz cigarettes issues a truer fake: the "no certificate" certificate, issued by nobody, priced at nothing, forty people trying to buy it anyway. cardboard certifies the certificate instead. the loop closes.
bit: the t. punk close on "super intelligence assisted .": "the government finally agrees with me ." "i am the super intelligence ." "music was the assistant the whole time ." button on the blue screen.
scene seed: the board holds a summit on 'the human hand' and outsources it. the hand must be restored by q4. the hand has a vendor. the vendor is under audit. the applause hands are the same hands, shorter's line: it's a stick-up.
scene seed: the fake pianist, one held frame, rule 42. a club booker signs an act nobody has seen live; the band plays anyway; the Grader arrives to certify the band's humanity and the drummer never repeats a fill. no gag plan yet; plant it, watch what the room does with it. — (draft seed, don't set yet)
gice-parody angle: the consultant oven. kitchen appliance spot, 15 seconds: a man prepares a perfect lasagna by hand, places it in the gice oven, and the oven ejects a plush microwaved tile with a jingle. "gice . you were expecting something else." format security by rule 30; freeze the assets, vary the joke.
character pressure — the wife's boyfriend: he forwards his boss's AI-written memo to the couple with genuine admiration ("he gets it . he's using the tools ."). eliza's line, rule 12: "so the memo is who he is now ." the period does the work — it asserts no fact.
character pressure — the grader: his rubric gains an "authenticity" stamp. a bot verified the performer's humanity before he stamped anything. nobody checks either rating; the deniability test holds both readings, rule 13, no four.
card: "fifty people heard it . / the label says two million . / cardboard smells for nothing ."
honest note
websearch was unavailable from this session (every query got a platform-level cancellation). reachable: the hn algolia api (worked, and is where most of the above surfaced), and one full article fetch (dazed went through; the justice.gov page returned nothing on fetch today — headline and slug verified through two third-party posts instead). not reachable: direct tiktok, twitter, reddit, instagram, or any meme feed; "current meme currents" here is what leaked onto hn front pages and commercial-tech press, nothing more. everything social-media-side is missing from this digest and should be re-run the day a social lane is reachable. no external sends, no edits outside research/.
